National Inhalants & Poisons Awareness Week

Want to get more involved with preventing intentional product abuse? Join us during the National Inhalants and Poisons Awareness Week (NIPAW) observed every third week of March.

What is National Inhalants & Poisons Awareness Week?

National Inhalants & Poisons Awareness Week (NIPAW) is an annual, community level program that takes place the third week in March to highlight understanding and education around inhalant abuse prevention and poison prevention. Developed in 1992 by the National Inhalant Prevention Coalition, NIPAW is an extension of National Poison Prevention Week (NPPW).

Why get involved in National Inhalants & Poisons Awareness Week?

You can get educated, get involved, and be a part of the solution to prevent inhalant abuse and save lives. A child is 50% less likely to try an inhalant if an adult has spoken to them about the dangers of inhalant abuse.  In addition, 90% of accidental poisonings occur at home- by keeping products stored out of reach and out of sight, you can prevent accidents.

This is a week to engage your children, students, employees, and consumer base around the issue of inhalant abuse, in order to spread awareness and education to help prevent product abuse.
