A new Poster Contest Co-sponsored by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the DEET Education Program in collaboration with The Weekly Reader.

The contest is open to 5th and 6th graders and asks the children to create a poster showing people how to fight the bite of mosquitoes and ticks. Mike Berenstain, co-author of the popular “Berenstain Bears” book series, will be among the judges for the contest. Deadline for submissions is April 4, 2008.

Two winners will be picked from each state (one 5th grader and one in 6th) to receive a $50 bond. Two Grand Prize winners (one from each grade) will get a $1,000 bond and invitation to an awards ceremony in Atlanta this spring (travel expenses included).
