Wednesday, April 9^th was an exciting day for Ace Clean as he joined the American University (AU) Recreational Sports and Fitness Center and American University Public Health Organization for a special National Public Health Week edition of Wellness Wednesday on the AU quad. Ace Clean and professor grime traveled to AU to educate students and the campus community about hand washing and disease prevention in the wake of a recent norovirus outbreak on campus.

The two mascots surveyed students passing through the quad between 11 AM and 2 PM, asking if they had washed their hands before eating lunch. Those who responded yes became members of the Gleam Team and had their picture taken with Ace Clean. Those who got caught eating lunch without washing their hands joined Professor Grime’s squad and were reminded to be on the Gleam Team next time!

Ace Clean and Professor Grime had a great time joining AU’s celebration of National Public Health Week. This week’s Wellness Wednesday theme of healthy living really got the mascots up and moving – they even took on the Assistant Director of the Public Health Program at AU in a hula hoop contest!

We hope the AU campus community enjoyed our visit and were reminded to wash their hands before lunch every time!
