The Alliance for Consumer Education (ACE) partnered with the New Britain Rock Cats, the Double-A Minor League team for the Minnesota Twins, as they hosted the 2013 Eastern League All-Star Classic in Connecticut.

As a partner for both the Home-Run Derby and the All-Star game, ACE received significant media and print promotions and was able to highlight both the disease prevention and inhalant abuse prevention programs.

Highlights from the All-Star Classic included:

•  A Rock Cats record breaking 8,633 fans in attendance for the All-Star game!

• ACE logo on promotional materials and banners.  The ACE logo was at the center of the All-Star Game posters that were distributed to every fan  in attendance- all 8,633!  The ACE logo was also featured on the 30 point marker for the Home Run Derby and the welcome All-Star Banner that was featured at the entrance to the stadium and at local hotels that welcomed players and fans.

• A StopGerms.org outfield sign that will stay up on the outfield wall for the remainder of the season.

• A disease prevention program ad was featured in the All-Star Classic programs that were distributed at the Home Run Derby and All-Star Game.

• Both the Ace Clean and The Gleam Team and Inhalant Abuse PSAs were played on the video board throughout the game. 

• Ace Clean and Professor Grime were out in the ballpark for both events, greeting fans and directing them to the ACE table. 

• ACE had a booth at both events where materials and resources were distributed.  More than 300 Ace Clean bobble heads were distributed and fans were able to learn more about the disease prevention program as well as the inhalant abuse prevention program.  ACE was able to connect with numerous community personnel that work with youth and will be following up in the community. 

•  ACE was also able to connect with many of the All-Star Players who are dedicated to the cause of inhalant abuse prevention and will be working with many of them in the future to create inhalant abuse prevention PSAs and other programs. 

The New Britain Rock Cats also helped ACE set up a community visit at local camp- Camp Courant. ACE visited the camp and held two disease prevention presentations for more than 200 campers.  For more on the Camp Courant presentations visit the blog here.
