ACE recently attended three major conferences across the U.S. to continue to promote awareness for inhalant abuse. These conferences help ACE create better program materials to target audiences and also provides new perspectives on the issues of drugs and addiction. Below are some highlights from the conferences.

The Association of Recovery Schools: 
UNITE (Uniting National Initiatives to Empower Youth Recovery) in Philadelphia, PA, June 24-25, 2015

The Alliance for Consumer Education attended the Association of Recovery Schools’ annual meeting at Drexel University inPhiladelphia, PA in hopes of learning more about youth prevention, treatment, and recovery support as it applies to our Inhalant Abuse Prevention program.  A large part of ACE’s target audience is youth so understanding the foundations of abuse, addiction, and the continuum of care is essential for developing new and successful Inhalant Abuse programs. Highlights from the meeting included a keynote address from David Mineta, MSW, Deputy Director of Demand Reduction, from the White House Office of National Drug Control Policy, National Recovery Advocate, Greg Williams, and a panel discussion on Accelerating Healing and Recovery in Teenagers in Recovery through Effective Community Service.

The American School Counselor Association: 
ASCA 2015 in Phoenix, AZ, June 28-July 1, 2015

The Alliance for Consumer Education exhibited at the four-day American School Counselor Association’s annual meeting at the Phoenix Convention Center inPhoenix, AZ. 

The conference had hundreds of school counselors in attendance with representation from nearly all 50 states. ACE was also amidst record attendance with 2,102 attendees and 163 booths. On top of a successful meeting experience, ACE distributed over 500 free resources to a wide array of school districts, interacted and educated attendees on the important of inhalant abuse prevention.

The National Association of School Resource Officers:
NASRO 2015, School Safety Conference, in Orlando, FL, July 5-10, 2015

 

Exhibiting to School Resource Officers (SROs) was a first for the Alliance for Consumer Education, and one that was found to be incredibly advantageous.  With over 1,400 total attendees at NASRO’sSchool Safety Conference at theRosen Shingle Creek Resort in Orlando, FL; ACE was able to break into a market that greatly benefits from our numerous educational materials on Inhalant Abuse Prevention. 

 

School Resource Officers from across the country come to this annual meeting that promotes information sharing, best practices, and cutting-edge technology for school safety programs. We were able to successfully distribute an additional 500 of our free resources to the attendees, including an overwhelming number of Inhalant Abuse Prevention kits which the Resource Officers found particularly useful.

Through this year’s summer conferences ACE was able to successfully increase awareness for its Inhalant Abuse Program through the distribution of kits and other information pamphlets. ACE will continue to work hard to promote awareness and looks forward to the 2016 conferences!
