ACE Attends National Organization for Youth Safety Annual Meeting

FALL CHURCH, VA—On June 5, 2018, the ACE team attended the National Organizations for Youth Safety’s (NOYS) Annual Meeting in Fall Church, Virginia. Kicking off the event was April Rai, NOYS CEO, who highlighted the importance of its work and that of its partner organizations in touching the lives of teens.

Sara Stickler, Executive Director of ACE and NOYS Board Member, also gave remarks, thanking both NOYS and event partner, DC Trauma Injury Prevention Coordinators Collaborative (DC TIPCC), for their hard work in putting the Coalition Meeting together.

“To prevent injuries and save lives, we must continue coordinating our efforts,” Stickler stated, “and work together to find new ways to support each other’s missions and overlapping goals.” Stickler also introduced Commissioner Ann Marie Buerkle, chair of the Consumer Product Safety Commission (U.S. CPSC), honorary chair of ACE and keynote speaker. Buerkle offered support from the agency to break down silos and bolster injury prevention.

The day-long event offered two tracks that focused on capacity building, including cause marketing, social media, and funding, and innovations in the field, including injury prevention, violence prevention, and substance abuse prevention.

“ACE is a unique and much needed voice on Inhalant Abuse Prevention for teens and young adults,” Stickler added. “The more we can network and partner with other youth organizations, the more individuals we can reach with our message.”
