Disease Prevention Program

ACE’s Disease Prevention Program continues to grow and have an increasingly significant impact. Through its award-winning website, www.StopGerms.org, the program aims to educate consumers on ways of keeping a home healthy and clean.

Recently, the site has been added to the curriculum of a nursing program at a regional college and last fall, Comcast New England profiled ACE’s site in a newsletter to all its subscribers (click here to read the Comcast article)

With a solid 2007 strategic plan in motion, the Disease Prevention Program has committed itself to:

  1. Increasing the program’s relevance and credibility with both consumers and the media
  2. Elevating the program’s operation team to a dynamic and highly energized team
  3. Increasing awareness of the Disease Prevention concept among K through 5th graders and their mothers through     expanded educational outreach.

The basis or foundation of the program continues to be the program website (www.StopGerms.org) which is continuously updated and is centered on four main seasonal topic areas including allergy & asthma, cold & flu, summer pests, and back to school. Additional ad-hoc topics that appear in the news and special features during the holiday seasons also appear as they are applicable.

Due to increasing demand from website visitors, the site’s main component, the interactive house, is currently being expanded to include three additional rooms and a garage. This will allow ACE to thoroughly expand its website through many new FAQ sheets, helpful hints, and consumer hints.

ACE has also been exploring possibilities of partnerships with new national organizations in order to expand its Disease Prevention Program programs reach even further. Late last year, ACE attended the National Public Health Information Coalition’s annual conference and follow-ups from the conference have led to ongoing dialogue with the National Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
