Alliance for Consumer Education (ACE) Partners with OK!TV and Real Housewife of New York Star to Attack the Lethal Teen Addiction

Washington, DC (September 9, 2015)- Statistics show that “Huffing” (inhalant abuse) is at epidemic levels among America’s teens and preteens—an addiction that can cause death, even on the first attempt. But now, the non-profit Alliance for Consumer Education (ACE) is providing parents, families and online communities the tools they need to protect their children during Back to School season.

ACE, in partnership with OK!TV, is proud to launch its nationwide Back to School Health and Safety Campaign to battle the dangers of Huffing through much-needed awareness and education.

“A child is 50% less likely to use an inhalant if a parent or adult role model talks to them about the dangers of abuse,” says ACE Executive Director Sara Stickler.

On September 16th, ACE will also host a Back to School Health and Safety Night for invited bloggers and online journalists. At the event, Bravo’s Real Housewives of New York star, Countess LuAnn de Lesseps will be in attendance to highlight the importance of education and awareness.

Throughout the month of September, OK!TV and host Sonia Isabelle will also conduct an on-air TV campaign—with public service announcements, and integrated segments—highlighting the warning signs and dangers of inhalant abuse.

The Back to School Health and Safety Night, sponsored by SC Johnson, will allow for bloggers and journalists to interact with ACE representatives and receive tools and resources from ACE’s inhalant abuse prevention and disease prevention programs.

“September is a critical time to reach out to parents and guardians as students head back to school,” Stickler continues. “This partnership with OK!TV and Countess LuAnn provides a platform in helping to get ACE’s prevention messaging out to millions of parents.”

The Back to School Health and Safety Night will be held at the OK!TV Studios in New York. Bloggers and journalists in attendance will meet the Countess while also having the opportunity to familiarize themselves with ACE’s programs and resources. All invitees will take home an array of ACE resources as well as sponsored products from SC Johnson, Diversified CPC International, Chase Products, and OdoBan.
