Scientific studies consistently show that disinfectant products are 99% effective at killing germs and bacteria that can cause communicable diseases. Insect repellents and pest control products protect children and adults from disease-carrying pests. Whether in homes, day care centers or institutional settings such as hospitals and nursing homes, manufactured products play an important role in safeguarding public health. Yet, even though consumers use these products, they often are unaware of the significant product benefits. Other consumers are swayed to reduce or eliminate use of these products due to inaccurate information concerning the health and safety risks and environmental effects of the products.

Company product research and development information along with the expertise of industry chemists and scientists make the Alliance for Consumer Education well-suited to promote the disease prevention benefits of manufactured products. In addition, this program offers opportunities for ACE to partner with organizations representing household and institutional health and safety concerns, and to create practical, community-based education projects.
